First Candle Party!

Hello and Welcome to the First ever Candle Party blog post.

With 8 Lovely Ladies from the Women's Lifestyle Expo joining Beth (The Candles 4 Fun owner and Party Host), Anja (A candlemaster lending a hand) and Bridget (the Gopher) for an evening of craft, socialising, and dodging Scamp (the dog with a taste for toes).

How We Started

We began with introductions, signing the guest register and a quick rundown of what Soy Candles are all about, and discovered a couple of budding Candlemakers in our midst while everyone admired the selection laid out on display.

Anja then split everybody up into two teams.

What We Made

Team One Made Flourescent Pink candles with a Pina Colada Fragrance, with a little biased encouragement from Bridget (she likes Pina Coladas).
Team Two made Green candles with a Spearmint Scent at the insistence of a certain green obsessed lady on the team (you know who you are!) We filled about 10 jars and 15 tealights with approximately a kilo of wax.

How We Did It

With two posts of water heating up to melt the wax, our guests experimented with their choices, discovering that the wax does not stain, and actually makes a nice moisturiser for the hands, while the fragrances make excellent perfumes. With a range of jars to choose from, everyone tried something different.

We began by melting the wax slowly in small pots placed inside the larger pots of water (we have customer equipment however any pots can be used, the wax cleans up easily), and once the wax was melted, we added the colouring, and as it cooled, the fragrance.

Setting the wicks up in their jars was easy with the ready made wick holders and stickers to keep them in place. From there we added the care labels and started pouring.

The pouring is the fun part because it's very much a game of trial and error. The wax doesn't stain and cleans up with soap and water so there's no fuss and no big mess afterwards.

The thing everyone notices is how well the scent of the candles comes out in the wax and also when the candles burn.

Everyone took home a creation enjoy. Success!
